5 Essential Oils to use during your EFT session

A couple weeks ago I had a wonderful EFT session with Tiffany. Now you might be asking what is an EFT session why would I need one, Tiffany’s post  What is EFT Tapping and why you should try it now, covers all the information you need to know! EFT is Emotional Freedom Technique, also known as tapping. While in my session with Tiffany we recited a tapping script and tapped different points along my head, neck, and collarbone.

Before my session with Tiffany, I applied some rose essential oils to my neck. I was feeling quite anxious and on edge due to a drama filled weekend before. Rose helps reduce feelings of anxiety and so I had been using it throughout the day.

As I began tapping the different areas around my neck and collarbone (where I had put the rose oil) it made the scent come alive again as I was tapping. I had put the oil there a couple hours before, however with tapping it smelled so strong like I had just put it on. This coupled with Tiffany’s EFT scripts and tapping really helped dramatically reduce my anxiety and concerns.

I then immediately shared with Tiffany my own reactions to the rose and asked if I could write a piece about the essential oils to use during EFT so others could learn about the benefits of aromatherapy combined with EFT. Tiffany was thrilled with the idea and this blog post was born.

I encourage you to speak with a health professional before using essential oils.

I use Revive Essential Oils for all my oils as I trust their brand and science behind their oils. If you’re interested in Revive essential oils click here to get 10$!

Rose Essential Oil

Great For: Anxiety/Stress – EFT Session

Now Rose essential oils is one of the most expensive oils in the world. It takes a lot of rose petals to make rose essential oil. Once or twice a year, Revive has a special where if you spend so much money on oils you’ll get a free rose roll on oil. For myself, this is how I got mine.

Rose essential oil has many benefits that are mainly rooted in beauty regimes; however, it also is known to help improve mood and create an energizing aroma.

Just roll a little rose onto each side of your neck an hour or so before your EFT session, as you tap, you’ll activate the rose which will help boost your mood. Rose can be used topically as long as you dilute it with a carrier oil such as coconut oil. If you buy a pre-made roll on bottle than it will come with carrier oil already mixed. You can also diffuse Rose essential oils during your EFT session with 2-3 drops in a small diffuser.

Grapefruit Essential Oils

Great For: Positive thoughts/energy – EFT Session

Grapefruit essential oils is a fantastic oil that packs a citrus punch! It’s a great wake you up oil and is a great mood booster. Grapefruit essential oil is known for promoting lymphatic health, releases negativity and is a great way to maintain a healthy metabolism.

To use Grapefruit Essential oils during your EFT session try putting some in a rollerball and rolling it onto your neck will help release tension. It helps to uplift your spirits and relieves and stiffness or frustration from your mind and body. Grapefruit can be used topically when combined with a carrier oil. You can place it in a rollerball or mix (with carrier oil) it in your hand and then massage your neck, this will also help with your lymph health. Grapefruit is phototoxic oil which means you need to avoid sunlight and UV for 12 hours after applying, so this is good in the evening to apply to your skin.

Lavender Essential Oil

Great For: Calming and Soothing – EFT Session

Lavender is a personal favourite of mine. It helps to ease feelings of anxiety, stress and tension within our body and helps us feel at ease and calm. Lavender is an oil with many benefits, so using this oil in your everyday life is encouraged as it helps from wake up to bedtime!

During your EFT session dab on a small amount that has been mixed with carrier oil. Massage this around your neck and then inhale the remaining scent on your hands. You can also apply lavender oil that has been mixed with carrier oil to your temples. Throughout the session if you need more of the scent, simply open the bottle, and take one long sniff. Lavender is a very light scent so it will not be as potent as the above oils. You can also diffuse Lavender during your session with 2-3 drops in a small diffuser.

Cedarwood Essential Oil

Great For: Grounding and Balancing – EFT Session

Cedarwood is a scent that helps to ground and balance you. If you’re feeling anxious before your session than this is a great oil for you to use. Cedarwood helps to soothe and relax your mind and reduce feelings of stress while promoting relaxation. It helps to promote self confidence and self esteem as well.

Cedarwood can be used topically, you can dilute this with a carrier oil and place it on your neck, collarbone, or temples. As you tap on cedarwood the scent will come alive again and will fill your senses with calmness and a feeling of serene. You can also diffuse cedarwood essential oil during your EFT session with 3-4 drops in a small diffuser.

Jasmine

Great For: Calming, Soothing, Self-Confidence – EFT Session

I use Jasmine daily, it’s one of my all-time favourite scents. Jasmine helps to uplift your emotions and promotes feelings of joy. If you’re struggling with self-confidence before your EFT session this is a wonderful oil to use and it helps to promote self-confidence and a positive outlook on life. Don’t we all need that sometimes?

For myself, I use Jasmine daily up along my neck and love smelling it throughout the day. You can also massage diluted jasmine into your pulse points. Jasmine is lovely to diffuse and you just need to use 3 drops at a time.

Since my EFT session with Tiffany I have completed several solo EFT sessions using the script she sent me and the points she taught me. I’ve used each of these oils and can vouch that they all work wonderfully with tapping. If you have an upcoming tapping session be sure to see if you have any of these oils or pick some up before your session to use!
